When preparing for ministry, the most important thing isn’t study time, logistics, finances, training, etc. The most important thing is the heart. Is your heart ready for ministry?
You can run a great service, preach a great message, or manage a great ministry. That may be successful by our standards, but God measures differently. It’s about the heart. If your heart is not right before the Lord, you’re doing it in vain. Not your physical heart, but your spiritual one.
How can you get right before the Lord?
It’s about recognizing who you really are. It’s similar to getting right before the Lord before taking communion. It’s not about justifying yourself through holy actions or through lack of unholy actions. You don’t get to take communion because you’ve been a great Christian the last week. You get to take communion because God’s been a great God and because you recognize that your a sinner in need of a Savior. Let’s face it, we’re in need of a Savior every day of our lives.
The moment we feel like we’re entitled to a certain level of ministry, is the moment our heart needs to be straightened back out.
