These are my notes for our Kids Ministry training. We had about 200 awesome volunteers come out and attend this Saturday morning training. Some were brand new, some had been with us for years. Part 1 of 2. Via kidzalive.org.
I would like to welcome you to the largest and most awesome ministry at Calvary.
We have about 200 volunteers and almost 500 kids every week. When you add the volunteers, the kids, and the kids’ parents, we directly impact about 1,000 people every single week!
People, we are now in a war. We are involved in a ministry that will impact children who will grow into Pastors, Missionaries, business people, politicians, fathers, and mothers. This is serious, very serious business. We have fun, but don’t get it twisted. This is not all fun and games.
When a 50 year old gives their life to Christ, they have an impact of 20-30 years. It can be a serious impact, but it’s limited.
When a 5 year old gives their life to Christ, they have an impact of 70-80 years. That’s a big time impact! It will affect their family, Elementary classmates, Middle School classmates, High School classmates, College classmates, their future spouse, future friends, career choice, and future kids. Their impact increases exponentially as the years go by.
Kids Ministry can easily change the direction of an entire community, an entire city, even an entire country!
Here at Calvary, we have a mission statement. In kids ministry, we have our own mission statement. Here it is.
Bringing Kidz to LIFE through the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
L: Living life loving God
We want these kids to live a life where they love God and love others.
I: Instruction in God’s Word
We want to make sure that we don’t come here for the purpose of making sure that the kids have a good time, only.
If the only purpose here is to entertain children then we should all pack up and go home. We’ll never do as good as Disney or Nickelodeon. But we have something that is more important and is beyond life changing, it’s eternal changing.
We MUST teach Kids the Word of God!
F: Finding your fit in the fellowship
We want kids to feel comfortable here, we want them to love coming here, we want them to love their teachers and we want them to start serving as soon as they’re old enough.
We want to move them on to youth in a position that they’ll be a blessing to others and to the ministry. We want Pastor Tito and the youth team to love receiving kids that grow up in kids ministry.
E: Evangelize Others
Yes, we want these kids to evangelize others. I can’t tell you how many times a child has brought a friend, the friend gets saved, then the friend brings his family. We have many families here that have a 9 or 10 year old who brought them to the Lord!
We need to teach these kids to evangelize! They need to be comfortable sharing the Gospel with their friends. This is a huge deal. If we can teach these kids how to share their faith at a young age, they’re going to have an incredible impact in the Kingdom.
